An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) ensures the continuity of power supply during power outages by converting the DC voltage of a battery or battery bank into an AC voltage with the required amplitude and frequency. Depending on the application requirements, UPS are divided into simple off-line configurations and more complex double conversion online configurations (high-end, medium or large UPS), as this configuration can also improve the power quality of sensitive loads (including computers, servers, industrial process equipment, instrumentation, and telecommunications equipment).
